How to Guard against the evil of this world

The concept of reconciliation has been a crucial concept in Christianity. Reconciliation means to restore a relationship. This is crucial for Christians as our ideals are based on building and maintaining good healthy relationships. Our relationship with God is only possible through reconciliation.

This is noted in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, which says, all this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Our very salvation is dependent on the reconciliation of our sins on the cross. We are saved due to the sacrifice of the God who created us. His death created a model for us to live by. Therefore, a Christian should pursue a life or reconciliation. This is only possible with a personal relationship with the one who taught us how to reconcile. Once we grow in our faith and learn to rely more heavily on Christ, we can learn how to forgive and reconcile with the people around us.

In the last few years the increase of gun violence and school shootings has risen drastically. It has made it even more difficult for parents to convince their kids that it is good to continue going to school A good majority of children are scared to go to school due to the recent attacks. This has made our children and people in society scared to even venture outside of the house.

If this continues at this pace we will stat to see the number of drop outs in school increase and we can expect more children opting for home-schooling. This can cause an ever greater decline in our upcoming generations social skills and education. It is safe to say that we need a change to occur to fix this epidemic that we have unleashed upon ourselves.

Our world has been effected by the presence of evil since man was created. We have been in a constant war with the forces of evil and it has been becoming more apparent as time goes by. This evil has influenced normal people to commit heinous acts that seem hard to fathom. However, these acts will only become the norm if we are not careful and we do not protect ourselves.

This protection is not something that the world provides, like a physical body armor, instead it is something greater. There is something that is greater than any body armor that we have in the physical realm and this is called the Armor of God.

This is described to us in Ephesians 6:10-17, which says, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

With the armor of God, we can have protection from the devil and his minions, however this only applies to those who call on the name of the Lord. For those that refuse to acknowledge their sin and ask God into their lives, they are vulnerable to spiritual attacks. These attacks start out spiritual and end up appearing in our physical world. These attacks are then shown to us in disasters like these mass shootings or other tragedies.

For us to avoid future issues we need to go back to our initial mission that was given over 2,000 years ago. This mission was given to the disciples by Jesus and was ordered to be carried out throughout the generations to come. This mission was told in Mathew 28:19-20, which says, therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

If we can get back on track with our mission as a collective church body, we should influence the change that this world desperately needs. If we can introduce the world to Christ, then the evil that has consumed the world, should vanish. The only way we can reconcile fully and rebuild our broken world is by getting the creator involved personally with his creation.

How can you be a light in this dark world?
